A Salt Dish
I went to my pottery class for the first time yesterday. It was jolly good fun. Upon entering the studio I faced 12-15 older women at tables. I don't know who I thought the other attendents at this pottery class would be - other 24 year olds who live in nyc?? The fact that I am so very naive keeps smacking me right in the face. Regardless of the age difference in some of the women, and by this point in my life, I already feel different in many ways from my peers, I did enjoy the time spent "handbuilding." Using my hands, I crafted a too large salt bowl which will turn into an olive or nut bowl if it doesn't look like it will crack in the kiln. I also made a more impressive leaf-shaped scoop for the bowl. Each class we are to have a different project and I am already scheming as to who would appreciate hand-made cups and bowls for Christmas. Though the class is pricey, there is a large amount of studio time that is available for use on Fri, Sat, and Sun. free of charge.
